Miss you, Blue

November 6, 2009 - 8:08am

You found your way into the heart of one inner-Boston schoolkid in the 70s and 80s and never left.

First butterfly I see next spring, I'll know it's you.

Alas...

Dear Brother Blue,

we didn't know each other, but I knew you. I saw you all the time in Cambridge and always listened from the side-lines to your wonderful cadence. Only now do I regeret that I didn't make the effort to know you more over the years of hearing your stories as a passive listener.

Fair thee well, quick wind... your journey has just begun.

We will miss you.

Great Sadness

November 5, 2009 - 11:29pm

I will never forget the first time I met him in the summer of 1977. I was sitting on the traffic island in Brattle Square holding my performance spot for the evening when this strange person covered with ribbons and balloons appeared and started dancing and chanting a short distance away from me. There was a little old lady sitting next to me and... Read More I turned toward her and said something to the effect of, "What the heck is up with that guy?" Her response was completely unexpected. She said, " You should listen to him, he's wonderful". I did and he was. He was one of the kindest men I ever knew.

R.I.P. Brother Blue

I was so sad to hear the news today of Brother Blue's passing. I played a number of gigs with him where I would play piano underneath his poems. What an amazing man with an incredible heart and spirit! He will never be forgotten!

We met while we were both in grad school. Later you told stories to my children -- and to me. You will never be forgotten.

Blessed Be

thank you for all you've been and for the warm place in my heart where you'll always be

November 5, 2009 - 6:24pm

I am crying, but have known you could not stay on this plane for all time. I first saw you on the bright sunny morning 0f 2/8/78. Walking into Harvard Square after the historic blizzard, we approached the kiosk. You stood high up upon a colossal snow drift. You were telling a story and I was mesmerized. I don't know when we first spoke, but you always gave me hope that I had value, that I was a creation and a creator and that we could share moments of genuine warmth. Over the years we chatted at the coop over coffee, at the cable station, at the old Zeitgeist Gallery when you had your radio show there, all over the place. Always a gift for me to pass your way. I thought of you the other day and wondered if I'd see you again, as I often have done the last few years. Your light remained ever bright, but seemed to be condensing. I am very sad but also blessed to have been acquainted with you in this world. Ruth, my blessings and thoughts are with you. love/peace, Judith
