The Guestbook
Spirit Friend
I always looked forward to seeing Brother Blue at the NABS festival every year. All decked out in blue with his hat and sash and butterfly pins and even balloons tied to his elbows- he was an event unto himself. He worked the hallways between sessions and workshops. The crowd was like his playground. He delighted in the contact with the people. Each one got a personal dose of his magic. His message was an intimate one with friend and stranger alike. Each contact was brief, but long-lasting as people would take his presence with them.
On stage he was profound, and funny, and barefoot. His stories did not always have a plot, but they always had a message. The message was in his spirit and his smile and the Ahhhhh: you are a child of the universe and God is always near. Blue could make up a story out of nothing and he could interpret Shakespeare in street language. Whatever he did, it always seemed spontaneous and it was always beautiful.
Time was not Blue's strong point. Ruth kept Blue on schedule as best she could. Blue always made sure everyone knew that Ruth was his mainstay and his true love.
I know Blue is in Willie's band now- he always claimed to be. (that is William Shakespeare). Angels are fluttering around him, as we did, to hear his stories and his laugh. Don't worry though, Blue will not run out of stories. We will get to hear the stories he is making up now when we join him by and by. Bye Blue.
You have my number Ruth if you need anything.

Brother Blue you were a truye Brother
I remember many an evening in the mid 1970's listening to you spin tales deep and wide. You were such an inspiration. I loved sitting with Ruth and talking with her as well and getting to know her and her projects at Radcliffe. I was young, but I have never forgotten the magic of Blue and his butterflies. Go in Peace Brother Blue- Keep telling your stories.
Just got to meet with through the celebration of your life
I wish that I had known about you earlier, so to know you through your words ....I still feel your LOVE...I will keep your site up high ...may GOOD GOD continue to send your sweet words to us...
Brother Blue
The internet is awash with nothing but love and tears for this man's passing. Few of us ever get past the Hum in Humanity. Brother Blue, it seems, wrote... and performed a unique definition of the whole Humane aspect in Humanity.
What would it be like to be
Brother Blue
Not black nor brown nor yellow
Or red or white or even green
None of the... pop u lar colors
Not to be plastered
Into a pop u lar occupation
Educated enough to know how to
Yet intelligent enough to know not to
To tell a tale tall or tawdry... Not
To make yourself part of the audience
But to make the day's audience
Become a part of the tale
You have become because
You have become the Tale of them,
Just for them, and with them
What would it be like to be
Brother Blue
To awaken the day with an Idea
To lull it to sleep with a tale
Of the true Humanity
In Humanity
GoodBye for now Sir
My Brother
Brother. Never was this word more true. I love you. You who loved soOOO much, keep on doing what you do. Butterflies have never been in better company than they are now. My heart will miss you always.
Touched by the One...
Blue,
You were touched by the One, sang to many, and now return to the One. We are changed. May we continue the Song...
Blessings and thanks
Back in the early '70s, you were the guest speaker at a chapel service at the school I attended. In that big old echoing gothic church you made the Spirit come alive and inspired me more than any other had 'til then, and few have since.
Thirty-five-plus years on your voice still soars.
You're immortal.
God bless you.
Homage to Brother Blue
You brought light to the streets of Cambridge. Thank You!
